Hello Fellow Bookworms!

Today’s Bookending Autumn prompt was created by the one and only Jamsu @ Jamsu Dreams. Click their @ to see what villain has their heart and while you’re at it, peruse their blog!

For those of you still out of the loop, Bookending Autumn 2019 is one of the quarterly Bookend Events created and ran by two amazing book bloggers, Sam and Clo. The goal for each quarter is to discover new blogs, bring the community together and make new friends! You can track and join the fun by checking out the #BEAutumn19 hashtag on twitter 🙂

Prompt

Garden of Evil

Pick a villain and talk about what you love about him/ her. You can talk about why you liked them more as a bad guy than as a good guy.

The one villain that had my heart turned out not be a villain but a precious cinnamon roll that must be protected at all costs. For my lovely readers, you know who that is. For those of you who have stumbled upon my little blog, *whispers* It’s Rhysand from the ACOTAR series.

So instead, I will give you the runner-up!

Although…he too turned out not to be such a villain….

Ignifex

From the novel Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, Ignifex.

Ignifex used to be my number one.

I had read Cruel Beauty way before I ever touched ACOTAR. In fact, Cruel Beauty was the book that got me into the fairy tale retellings. I remember that summer being nothing but me going to the library and checking out all the YA retellings I could find!

That plus Holly Black causing me to fall in love with the FairFolk…..Stumbling into ACOTAR was only a matter of time.

Ignifex has everything I’m trash for in a male lead. Not that it takes much for me to be a trash cat for a male lead

  • Is a grumpy grump
  • Doesn’t think he deserves love
  • Is romantic when he falls in love
  • Is powerful
  • Is assumed to be a bad guy by everyone else
  • Broody

His character was compelling from the beginning. His arrogance only added to the intrigue instead of making me roll my eyes.

I can’t really say I loved him more as the bad guy. He’s one of those characters that good or bad, he is a favorite.
