February – April was THEE season for the Queens. Sarah J Maas, Mariana Zapata and Jennifer L Armentrout all released wonderfully thick books that kept me thoroughly entertained. I’m still getting through A Crown of Gilded bones but I can 100000% tell you right now it’s one of my favorites.
Since my attention was zeroed in on just these three books, I didn’t get the chance to read the other books I had added onto my list. A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas came out (you can read my book review on it here) and left me in such a hangover, I spent weeks trying to find the energy to read something else.
Luckily, I was saved by All Rhode’s Lead Here by Mariana Zapata which kick-started my reading engine. By the time I had finished reading it, the release date for A Crown of Gilded Bones was drawing near; so I decided to reread the first two books in the From Blood and Ash series to get myself back in the right mindset. 🙂
Having my focus solely on these books created a small backlog that I hope to get through this month. Luckily enough, my new job is a lot less busy than my previous one (crossing my fingers it stays so. I miss blogging every other day); I should have time now to read more frequently!
Beat the Backlog: May 2021
The Traitor Queen By Danielle L Jensen – After all I went through for this book and almost a year later it still sits unread on my shelf! SHAMEFUL I tell you. SHAMEFUL!
A Shadow Between Us by Tricia Levenseller – I’ve had this book for a while now in my backlog and always pick it up to read but never actually do. There’s always another book that distracts me! I WILL get to this one this month!
Crave by Tracy Wolf – Very Twilight-esque cover and from the blurb so is the story. The book itself is not very high on the priority list but my curiosity cant be helped.
Dark Shores by Danielle L Jensen – Danielle L Jensen is slowly becoming the third Author with the most books on my shelf. This series and the Bridge Kingdom came out around the same time and I’ve been meaning to pick this one up! I finally bought it on sale 🙂
Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin – This is the oldest book on the backlog list. I got this almost 2 years ago now and have opened it twice….I never make it past the first 3 chapters and this is the LAST chance I’m giving it. I like the concept but I dont seem to ever be in the right headspace for it. Let’s see if May is the right time to read it.
Re-reads in my TBR
Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco – When I tell you this is easily one of my favorite books/series….. I absolutely LOVED this book and cannot wait to reread it. I’m excitedly waiting for the sequel!
Bully by Penelope Douglas – I re-read this book at least once a year. It was the book that opened the world of New Adult Novel up to me 🙂 I can probably just speak the entire book out in spoken word at this point….haha….
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas – This book left me in such awe the first time I read it. I just wasn’t ready to read it again so soon but I think a year is good enough!
What books do you plan to read this month? Any re-reads?
