Kinokuniya Book Haul
Who knew an hour and a half trip would turn out so expensive? Ha! A “surprise” book haul…..as if I didn’t know that stepping through the doors of one of my favorite places in New York would result in me blowing off a bit of money. Thank goodness I keep a book fund!
Walking through the streets of New York City was nostalgic. There’s nothing like being home after a few years, even if it was only for 5 hours. But I was there with a goal in mind. I had dragged my boyfriend all the way to the big apple city so I could buy some Manga.
Of course I could’ve just gone to the nearest Barnes and Noble but they wouldn’t have Japanese Manga on hand. Ordering it online was also a hassle as, and I think we all know this by now, I don’t like to wait for books. I am the instant gratification type. Give me the book now please! Kinokuniya was the only logical place for me to go.
What did I buy?
I’m currently studying Japanese in hopes of taking the N5 JLPT in a couple of months. At the end of August I bought some textbooks (post of my Japanese materials coming soon!) and have been using them religiously. However, the best way to pick up a language faster is to immerse yourself in it. I already watch lots of Anime and listen to Japanese music so I was good on one end. However, I wanted to practice my reading and comprehensive skills more. Reading manga in English was not going to help so I bought 8 volumes of Manga in Japanese.
Futari de Koi wo Suru Riyuu by Hiro Chihiro – ふたりで恋をする理由、ひろちひろ (Vol 1-7)
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for an Otaku Anthologies – ヲタクに恋は難しい、ふじた
Aside from the Japanese Manga, I did buy some English translated ones as well. Some that were on my list for a while and one that had really cute art! (Don’t judge me!)
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for an Otaku by Fujita (Vol 1 – 6)
The Great Jahy will not be defeated! by Wakame Konbu
What books have you bought lately? Any of them turn out to be a favorite?? Let me know in the comments below!
